John and Ray Doran, Doran Drilling of Knockroe, Borris, advised by geotechnical engineer Martin Lyttle– undertook the first ground sampling of Drummin Bog in early 2020.

Restoration of the Drummin Bog will initially rely on baseline surveys, which include: Topographical, Hydrogeological, Geological and Ecological.

The information from these surveys will inform the restoration works (ie raising the water table, removing trees etc).

As part of the surveys, Doran Drilling was employed to undertake the preliminary Window Sampling on Drummin Bog to evaluate the depths of peat, determine the underlying deposits and install standpipes for water monitoring purposes.
