Trackway ‘bog road’ Project with woodwright Eoin Donnelly

The first creative concept of the Creative Ireland Carlow Drummin Bog Programme 2020-21, The Trackway Project is a creative strategy, to build a short reconstruction of a neolithic track – ‘a bog road’ – involving members of the Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre, the BEAM Centre and people local to Drummin Bog.

Guided by Eoin Donnelly, woodwright specialising in historical wood monuments and reconstructions (https://eoindonnelly.ie/about/), the Trackway Project will create opportunities for local community engagement, the trackway becoming a symbolic platform of the connections between people, ideas and this specific place.

Eoin Donnelly’s insights will help Creative Drummin envisage contemporary and sensitive use of bog materials (for example, the birch that will be removed in restoration) to recreate understanding of ancient material use.
